So true.

Particularly when it comes to eating - turn off the damn TV too!

Sit down. With family. Eat and talk. Nothing else!

[...] Find free or cheap pleasures. Frugality does not have to be boring or restrictive … if you use your imagination. Be creative and find ways to have fun — loads of it — without spending much money. Have a picnic at the park, go to the beach, do crafts, board games, fly a kite, make art, bake cookies … I could list a hundred things, and you could come up with a few hundred more. Make a list of simple pleasures, and enjoy them to the maximum. This is the key to the whole idea of enjoying life now without spending tomorrow’s dollar. See Savor the Little Things.
[...] Savor the little things. Sure, the big things can bring big pleasure, but there are so many more little things in our lives. Savor them when they come up. It’s a way of practicing being present — stop and notice what you’re doing right now, what’s around you. And take time to enjoy it. Read this article for more. [...]

I have found that since Ive started to really limit the technology I use like the tv, dvd, internet, stereo, walkman and even my car, my life has completely changed. I started a few months ago and now apart from sometimes checking out this site and my email I hardly ever use (the suppossed entertaining) techno stuff. Its liberating and you really do begin to savor the little things once your no longer so distracted. I walk everywhere now even if it takes hours and its bliss to take in the surroundings, no crummy music filling my head, no desire to get back and watch boring shows etc etc. I can't believe how much time i have wasted watching movies and browsing webpages just because. Giving it up has completly brightened my little world. I would definitly recommend it! :D

what an incredible world. What a privilege to be able to live. I am a cheapskate to the nth degree. There are no boundaries on how to save money. I look at every aspect of my personal life and try to save in that one particular area. I call companies and ask for coupons and bravely ask for reductions in interest. I cannot justify buying a yard sale shirt for a quarter, then buying a ten dollar jug of laundry detergent to wash it. I use clean clear water to wash my clothes, after all they go through two cycles and how dirty could our clothes really be? Bless you.
