If you just started, I think it’s not important with all those equipment.
just make yourself easier to go cycling each morning consistently, no problem even just about 30 minutes

I agree with that. Like most other things I think cycling should be done on the KISS principle. Keep It Simple S….. My wife and I have gotten away from riding because it’s so hard to make the organized rides with our tight schedule. I’ve gotten the bikes serviced, laid out a neighborhood ride that will take a little more than 30 minutes and we’re getting back into it slowly. I miss riding.

Hmm. Some encouragement - I'm 30 later this year and can't ride a bike, so I figure I should really learn!

My plan is to get an old one, nice and cheap, and take it down the beach where there is noone to see me fall over, and where it won't hurt too much!!

"if you think there is good data that they reduce death and serious injury. You’d better invest in a walking helmet too, as the data does show that walking a given distance is more dangerous than cycling!"

Sounds like somebody just pulled some facts out of thin air. Where did these statistics come from? Yeah, that's what I thought.

So many people are saying that helmets aren't important because they've never been in an accident or they don't need one because they are responsible riders. If you really don't want to wear one, don't! But once you wreck and smash your head up, you're going to feel like an idiot because guess what, IT DOES HAPPEN. Do you think any of the people in accidents were TRYING to wreck? Hmm I doubt it. You can be careful but a lot of people in cars really don't give a crap about bikers and they'll run you right off the road so "being careful" can only get you so far.

I found this beginners guide very helpful and I thank the people who left more positive helpful comments. I've been biking for a long time but I just finally got a road bike so I guess I can call myself a beginner. Thank you!

I think this blog was very helpful. I recently started cycling by doing exactly what you suggest and hopping on the first bike I could find. As long as the thing is in working order, and I can't imagine why anyone would ride one that wasn't, you can get a real feel for whether or not biking is for you just by giving it a shot. I've already made it a goal to get an upgrade in the next couple months. Thanks for the helpful links and advice!!

Very complete...!
One thing that I can't miss when cycling is my MP3 player, that's make my cycling more fun and easier
