These are some great tips about running faster but I wonder, are there any other tips oriented particularly to the jump higher knowledge?

Hey, good article! I bookmarked it. I have one question, though. I live in the middle of no where, out in the country, and where I would be running is dirt roads. Would that be okay, or would it be bad on my feet or something?
Thanks

I agree...great atricle!! I've been active all my adult life, lifting weights and doing cardio 4-5 days a week. Because I'm in the Military I HAVE to run, but don't necessarily LIKE it. I would like to learn how to "like" it, so I've been reading alot of comments and printed out a stage 1 and stage 2 running program for beginners. So.....wish me luck!! I've enjoyed reading all the comments on here, they've all been very helpful!

This is a great article. I am trying to start an exercise routine consisting of running and weight lifting (never ran before in my life lol) but I find it hard to keep motivated without a running partner. Does anyone know of a site to find a running partner (I live in Iowa...which makes this especially hard).

Still remember my first day in the gym. I could not even run for 100 meters without feeling out of breath.

But with practice I built up my stamina and speed.

Presently on cardio days I can run non stop at the speed of 9 km/h or even higher for 8 km ( 5 miles).

Hi Leo, thanks for a great article. I wanted to ask your advice on protein intake for a running beginner. I ideally want to lose some weight and teach myself to run properly, so is it as important to intake a lot of protein say before and after a run? Or should I only worry about that if I want to build a lot of muscle?

I realise that running will be building muscle anyway, but will taking a lot of protein be counter productive to a weight-loss goal?

When I ran my first 10k I only trained for 30 minutes on a treadmill at lunchtimes. I gradually built up the speed and could run at 11 km/h for 30 minutes by the time the race came around. (I finished it in 1:04).
I'm not sure if I'd advocate this approach, but it might work for you if you don't have much time?
