Can someone explain why is almond butter better than peanut butter. I usually have whole grain toast with natural peanut butter, but if almond butter is better, I wouldn't mind trying it out.

Eat an English muffin with a smart dog, a bit of mustard. Then a kashi pumpkin flaxseed bar, eat it with black coffee. Then don't eat for the rest of the day. Fast as much as you can, lose pounds and you don't die. Ugh you girls keep me young. Damn you Jeff Goldblum talking wafers!

The PERFECT breakfast is paleolithic. An omelette/scrambled eggs with green veggies followed by some high vitamin fruit such as avocados etc. No high carb meals first thing in the morning will reduce post-breakfast insulin drop, thus stopping that mid morning tiredness.

Read Gary Taubes. It is NOT the fat but the carbs (especially when combined with sugar) that kills.

Don't fear the BUTTER fear the BREAD.

And yes, skip soy- it is so genetically altered.

I completely agree with you that Oatmeal is the perfect breakfast. Initially, I had a tough time eating oatmeal, other than an oatmeal raisin cookie, but I have plenty of friends who have it every morning and I’m beginning to understand why. Oatmeal has a wealth of nutrients such as vitamin E, magnesium, iron, zinc and protein. More oatmeal can also reduce the chances of weight gain and obesity.

Dietary cholesterol is not linked to body cholesterol/LDL at all. Also saturated fat is not bad for you, trans fats are. I consume over 40g of saturated fat a day whilst on a high moderate fat, high carb, high protein diet, and my LDL levels have dropped ;) This also helps my testosterone levels and even growth hormone recover and develop.

In regard to whey/soya shakes - whole food is ALWAYS king when it comes to breakfast, and even nutrient intake on the whole. Plus if you are male unfermented soya can decrease natural testosterone levels adding to the risk of man-boobs, mood swings, depression etc This is obviously only in extreme bad diet conditions! :)

People who like to eat on the run might enjoy this recipe for nutrition bars:

High fibre, high protein, low fat, and frugal! I eat breakfast at work so these are perfect for me. I also keep some instant oatmeal (often mixed with oat bran) in my desk in case I forget or don't have any bars made.

You say that a lot of sugar with breakfast is bad -- "This starts your day with a high blood-sugar level, which your body will quickly adjust for and drop, and you’ll be on a roller-coaster blood-sugar ride all day" -- doesn't orange juice typically have a lot of sugar?

Does that mean OJ with breakfast is bad?
