After years of trying all kinds of types of exercise, I finally found walking in the woods and hiking (snowshoeing in winter) to be something I enjoy so much, I actually consider it a treat I look forward to daily. Try to find some form of exercise you love and don’t stop looking until you do!

Here are a few tips that I give my bootcampers. Different ones take on different ideas-choosing what works for them

1. This is not negotiable. Do something every day that counts towards improving fitness. Walking the dog doesnt count in this because you have been doing that anyway and it hasnt helped with losing the pounds. Examples: Do a full home workout (I provide these), come to Bootcamp, just get up and start of one of the above. If after 10 measly little minutes you don feel like continuing, dont. This really works-either you get in 10 quality training minutes, or more often than not, you keep going and get in a great workout. All my home workouts and free website workouts only take about 20 mins anyway

2. Quit the excuses. So you think you dont have time some days or when you are away. You dont have to become a permanent morning person. Just get up earlier on the days that you have to.

3. Mark a big red X right across the date on your calendar if you did at least 15-20 minutes of intense exercise that day. (no walking the dog doesnt count again) See how far you can get that X chain to go before you break it.

4. Not really an exercise tip, but non negotiable at my bootcamp for anyone who says they are not getting results-keep a food diary. Get one of those little spiral bound notebooks and take it everywhere with you. Record everything (and I mean everything) that passes those lips and the times that you ate/drank it.
Great to be able to look back (or get an expert to look back-which is a service I provide) or better still, when you have got to write it down, it is much easier to say no.

Goodluck to everyone who is trying to improve their health and weight. There is absolutely nothing better than waking every day full of energy, knowing you have the physical ability to do anything that will be thrown at you.
