Sometimes I find myself not charging for a job because it only took me a couple of minutes. When I think about it I feel really dumb, spending countless hours learning to do something are not taken in consideration by people and you will find yourself undervaluing your job. And if you spend more time on a task than you must then you are just wasting your time, a dead end but freelancing seems like a good option for escaping it along with the rat race. By its very definition, it's a "complete freedom" kind of job, except when getting pressure from agent & publisher ;-) Anyway, i just thought that i would add this to the mix as a possibility for those who want to become free from the office. However, being a songwriter or a writer doesn't of course guarantee an income - it's great fun if you are that way inclined but you might work hard and not get much income for a long time.
