It’s been an amazing year here at Zen Habits. From starting out with only two readers (my wife and my mom) in January 2007 to today, when Zen Habits has more thank 26K subscribers and is one of the Top 100 blogs …
I cannot put in words how overwhelmed I am by all of you, the readers of Zen Habits.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.
As it is impossible to avoid reading “Best of” posts this time of year, I figured that there’s no sense in resisting … and so, for my new readers and as a review for older readers, I present the Best of Zen Habits, 2007 edition.

I didn’t realize you just started this blog this year. I started reading pretty early on, as I can now see, and you were a pretty polished writer even then.
If I wasn’t amazed before, I am now…

Congratulations, Leo, and thanks for producing such a great blog!
Have you ever written a post describing how you got as many readers/subscribers as you did? When you moved over to Word Press, did you pick up advertisers and do you think that helps? I’d love to hear about how your blog went from two readers to tens of thousands, if you have time. Thanks!

Is there any chance that you could you please put together in PDF format all these with photos - I think it would be great for printing off and filing nicely in a folder for reading time to time.

Wow, thanks for the positive comments, everyone. Seriously, the encouragement from you guys is what keeps me writing and makes the work on this site not only worth it, but a real pleasure.
This site is a success because of you guys.
@Megan: I have written a bunch of posts on blogging and how I got my success (try 10 Ways I Got 4,700 Subscribers in 3 Months) but I don’t think I’ve written a comprehensive post on it … maybe I should. I’ve done a bunch of posts on NorthxEast.com and ProBlogger.net … do a search on those sites if you’re interested. I don’t normally talk about blogging on this site, as it’s not really related to the content, but it’s something I’m definitely willing to talk about.
@wilson g: Actually, one reader did work on some PDFs of some of my posts, but I just haven’t put them together. Maybe I should do a Best of Zen Habits ebook? :)

Hi Leo, FYI: your first and second link in January point to the same article.

My favorite post was ‘A Guide to Creating a Minimalist Home’. This post along with your others on keeping things simple have inspired me so that I can easily plan a minimalist home when I graduate from college. I can also apply these lessons to my current living conditions though my co-habitants may not apply the same principles :-p
I have always been an organized person but this is truly what I have been missing. Instead of organizing things I don’t need, I finally have been able to let go of stuff and I feel so much better.

from an email i got this week-
After serious & cautious consideration…..your contract of friendship has been renewed for the New Year 2008!
My Wish for You in 2008 -May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you had forget your home address! In simple words …………
May 2008 be the best year of your life!!!

Hi Leo,
Congrats for such a great achievement !!! Keep on writing and helping those who are in needs :)
Anyway, this is a bit off the topic. I wanna get your opinion on quit smoking since you have already made it. Which is more effective: quitting step by step for example if you smoke 20 cig a day this week, then next week you reduce 10 cig a day next week, till you totally give up OR quitting all at once (cold turkey), no smoking from today till the rest of your life ? I am not quite sure which route I’m gonna take.
