A very informative post. Each idea given is helpful. A great book on getting things done is Eat that Frog by Brian Tracy.

One tip that I like is to plan your day the night before and then rehearse in your mind how you are going to accomplish the goal. As a matter of fact planning your week on the Saturday before is also a great idea.

Another tip is to feel the joy of accomplishing the goal before you actually accomplish it. Imagine how you will feel once the goal is accomplished. As you progress with your goal bring up this feeling often, especially when you run into obstacles.
I hope this helps.

Until my boss told me I had to write goals for my job, I never thought about goals. I am in a panic because she wants goals and specifics and I don't see how to do it. my job is quick reflex handling of dozens of problems while maintaining long term accomplishments of varied individual assignments. I have no goals except to respond quickly and accurately and continually. I feel threatened and anxious. I think she is trying to hassle me, maybe get me to quit. She doesnt understand what I do except in the vaguest way. she has said she doesn't want to know what I do. she simply believes she should 'manage' me since she is the 'manager'.
my personal style is to desire something and begin and then work on it until it is finished. I don't plan. I let it occur and create itself and then take joy or assess the outcome for revisions or inspiration.
is it really necessary to have goals? can't we live each day happily and see what it brings?

Hello and congratulations on this fantastic oasis of wisdom! Each of us is meant to go through their own pursuits and trials. God be blessed for not having xerox-copied our lives!
I am from Romania and today while typing the key words:"Declutter your life", I came across your inspiring site. It was exactly what I had been looking for.
May you have prosperity and unending inspiration!
