Paul, you probably don't eat meat for every meal of your day. Carole is right that you don't need to give it up completely and stay healthy. Did you try having a big green salad for dinner topped with fresh veggies, nut/seeds, avocado, beans? You can even throw in some animal as a condiment :) Eggs work well...

You don't have to totally give up meat to be eating a healthy diet. As a human being, you need some meat - about 6 oz. a day. It just needs to be orgainic meat. You can find out more at HighEnergyEating.com.

Wow, there are a lot of good recommendations here, and great discussion.

I totally agree with Deb's concerns. I also think that people are not getting enough of some very important nutrients. Granted, we don't need a lot of animal protein, we do need a small amount.

But one other thing that I'm VERY concerned about is that many people are still recommending soy. The WHO issued a health warning about our over-consumption of soy, and other products that mimic female estrogen in the body - yet people are still recommending it. I see a few doctors here and there who step up to the plate and tell of the dangers, but the myth is still so widepsread.

PLEASE - Do not eat soy. It messes with your throid, increases your risk of cancer, makes boys more feminine - I even saw one doctor recently who feels that it has led to increased homosexuality in boys.

Don't take my word for it - do some research. You'll find that soy is not the health miracle it's cracked up to be.

Nothing hyped ever is.

Hi Leo,

I agree with you about keeping things simple. I am an avid reader of your blog. My goal is also keep myself and my family from getting sick by including only high nutrient foods in our diet. If you are interested in how much the foods we eat affect your health, check out some books by Dr. Joel Fuhrman - He is the real deal when it comes to nutrition and reversing many diseases. Here is a link to his site https://www.drfuhrman.com/disease/default.aspx
