Lovely list–writers are such a quirky bunch. I recommend George Orwell’s article “Politics and the English Language.”

It is always interesting to learn about the habits of those who have been sucessful. Clearly writers are a quirky bunch as Iphigenia said.

I think writing every day is largely the common thread that flows though the group. It is a habit I am certainly trying to take on myself with my blog.

English is not my first language and I didn’t pay much attention to writing in school! However, after I began blogging, the expectations are more :-0)

#1. Stephen King- On Writing, is a really good book. I have benefited a lot from it.

Thanks for pointing out this other site. As someone that has been more of an engineer in life than a writer I have in the past resisted writing for fun. I’ve tugged as myself to write and then found I was looking at this giant wall of resistance. But now it is about improving my writing, and not about getting it right. Practice, practice practice makes for better prose as it does for everything in life.

Leo thanks again.

Early morning.
First meditate.
Then allow writing.
Peace.

Hello. Yeah. I truly believe that the first hour of the day and the last hour of the day truly helps. Aside from writing, I’d like to share some things we could do:

-Meditate on our goals.
-Pray
-Do something you want to do the rest of your life. If you like to become a successful writer, be a writer during those vital hours. If you want to become a successful musician, play an instrument during that time.
-Learn something good and that you really like. If you like to become a very good leader, read books on leadership during that time.
-Do something creative. Listen to music. Paint. Generate ideas.
-Be excited

Sincerely,
CrackingGold

Great overview Leo, I suppose any writer should heed these pearls of wisdom. But I wonder, should some of these habits be considered in the context of practice of masters of literature?

Great article and comments!

It made me wonder if anyone here is interested in learning “Internet Marketing” and how to get their writing out on the internet (eBooks, article submissions, blogging, websites, etc.). A RN friend of mine holds a Tele-Seminar once a year to teach people how to do it. She’s really good and has experts in the field as guest speakers. If anyone wants to check it out follow this link… http://snipurl.com/3oe40
