As a project manager, I can definitely relate (but maybe from a business angle) to some of suggestions:

- Keep a balance
- Say No (this holds true especially when dealing with hard stakeholders/clients)
- Slow down

I work for UPS, the epitome of production demand, and until recently I was the chair of the safety committee for my operations in the building. As an hourly worker, I took on this challenge more than 10 years ago. Expectations were high, available resources low and authority. Over the years I have positively impacted the safety process by creating new demonstrations, analyze data in a new way, creating new methods and affecting the number of accidents and injuries. This job was in addition to my regular duties as a driver. I am back in school for my MBA and I have a family. I have often joked with a manager that I was buring a candle at four ends. I did this partly because I wanted to highlight that my duties on the safety committee should be part of my job not in addition to my job.

Although I made changes to my life on my own accord, the article is very apt considering the detriment and solutions lists.

One last thought. Taking time to meditate often gives one clarity of thought yielding better solutions that can comparitively be better implemented.

A motivational speaker once told me, "You need to be wealthy, because what money will buy you is time and space." Aha! What your post says, and what I totally agree with is: why not settle for the time and space and forget about the money?! Got me to thinking, your post did. G.
