It all sounds pretty good, not paying farmers below production costs etc. But why is the price below the cost of production? Overproduction of course. And that really doesn't seem Zenhabitsy... Another thing, a farmer who sells through Fairtrade cannot own their land. They must belong to cooperatives (is that the coreect English word?). The point is: some things cannot be simplified. If real change and an end to poverty is to be effected, it has to come from within our own government and policy. The disadvantages of handouts from without would far outweigh its benefits. Though I love your blog and subscribe to its feed, I think you're way in over your head here.
