Just wanted to say I'm really proud of everything you're doing.
Here is the video I did for the young lions competition in hopes of encouraging people to add their names and help Oxfam by joining the movement to encourage world leaders to vote for change at the summit in Copenhagen in December.
Hope you enjoy!

Think twice before blindly supporting Fairtrade. It all sounds pretty good, not paying farmers below production costs etc. But why is the price below the cost of production? Overproduction of course. And that really doesn't seem Zenhabitsy...

Another thing, a farmer who sells through Fairtrade cannot own their land. They must belong to cooperatives (is that the coreect English word?).

The point is: some things cannot be simplified. At least not very much, sadly.

I'd love to help the world get smarter. I do think education is the key. What you don't know can hurt you.

Interesting commentary on "toxic anger" being a result of a growing understanding of the U.S. bailout:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/hamilton7.html

Addresses this issue of fairness, community, re-distribution of wealth, reversal of risk and reward relationship, personal responsibility.

- a quick read well worth consideration

From someone who is exposed to third-world poverty on a daily basis, I have to agree with matt & NoToMaoAndChe in particular.

If real change and an end to poverty is to be effected, it has to come from within our own government and policy. The disadvantages of handouts from without would far outweigh its benefits.

Though I love your blog and subscribe to its feed, I think you're way in over your head here.
