Taming Your Email: Audio Tips on Finding Inbox Zen

Post written by Leo Babauta. Follow me on Twitter.

I’d like to share with all of you the second in a series of four free audio tips podcasts that are being made available this week on ThePowerofLess.com:

Taming Email: Getting to Inbox Zen

This podcast can be played on your computer, iPod or other media device. The podcast talks about:

  • Why email is a great tool, but results in us doing more and more than ever before.
  • Why you should control email instead of vice versa, and why the world won’t end if you don’t check email.
  • Strategies for reducing the flow of emails.
  • Strategies for handling the emails that do get to you after you reduce the flow.

Feel free to share it on your blog, via email, on forums, in social media, or however you like! (Click on the “Tell-a-friend” button on the page.)

One other audio podcast tips has been released and two more will be released this week related to The Power of Less:

  1. Office Zen: How to Focus on One Task at a Time.
  2. Setting and achieving goals.
  3. Effective weight loss strategies.

Note: I’m trying to make the podcast available to be played online, on the site, but am having problems. Thanks for your patience. :)

Great Leo!

By the way the link at the bottom of yesterday’s (single tasking) one didn’t work? The download link.

I’ll have to download it and stick it on my ipod. Then I can listen to it when I get a chance.

@Chris: Yeah, that’s the problem I mentioned above … I’m having trouble making the in-line podcast player work, and the download link underneath the podcast player doesn’t work yet either.

For now, just click on the download link in the upper part of the posts. Thanks for understanding!

I’ve always expected email and texting to be the future bane of our society, and I was right! We’ve taken something that was suppose to save time and for most, it’s a huge distraction and time eater.

Thanks for the tips, I know my readers will appreciate it.

@Tim: My apologies. I was recording a couple of these while my wife and kids were still sleeping, so I tried to keep it quiet. I hope it wasn’t too hard to hear! Anyway, thanks for understanding — I’ll try to improve the next one.

Any chance to summarize key points in the posts?

It creates a glide path and helps with take aways.

Leo,

I am having trouble accessing the podcast. For whatever reason I think it is blocked by the Chinese internet. Is there any alternative way I could download this file? I really wish to listen :D

I wrote a post a couple of days ago about the same topic: email management.

I used to follow simple rules like: using gmail, grouping all my email addresses into the same inbox, deleting and archiving aggressively or batching my email sessions…

I hate my email inbox… i get so many emails per day, but honestly its mostly spam and junk email and no matter what I do to try and unsubscribe to them, I STILL GET THEM….

I guess some things cannot become zen…
