[...] What would you do if you only had a short time to live/ (Zen Habits) The life you have left is a gift. Cherish it. Enjoy it now, to the fullest. Do what matters, now. — Because while you might not have only 6 months to live, I’m here to break the news to you: you really do only have a short time to live. Whether that’s 6 months, 6 years or 60 … it’s but the blink of an eye [...]

We normally remember to do things we’re constantly doing, yet forget to think whether they’re worth doing."

I agree with Sokha, you need to be present not constantly doing worthless things. People are like gold, it's funny how many people chase after it not knowing it's right in front of them and that they have been ignoring it all along....

Ciao Tutti,

What a great concept. I work for a bunch of crazy workers. They work and work many times sitting at a computer for hours looking at numbers. For me, life is about stopping, literally stopping and listening to a person tell me what they want. It's about smiling at people no matter if you know them or not. It's about giving from deep within yourself and allowing yourself to be totally present with other people.

Five years ago my wife and I bought a little house in Italy. People said we were bloddy mad for doing such a thing. It didn't make sense for a couple from Los Angeles to buy something so far away, but I am so so grateful. It has changed my life. I learned what it means to really live. I learned how to taste and smell and feel. It's been wonderful.

This Italian adventure has been a gift to our children. I never traveled till I was in my late 30's. My children now know that anything is possible and that they can live where they like and do as they wish.

I am grateful. Grazie mille e ciao.

I have to say my work and play life are really in balance and I love my work so I wouldn't change anything there....well, ok, maybe work one less day... :)

I'd definitely spend time with my loved ones and continue creating some stillness in my life with my meditation and yoga practice...actually probably do that even a lot more so to know that I will be ok whether I am in this form or transforming to another.

blessings,
Gina

One of my sons had to deal with the knowledge that he was about to die in 2006. I didn't realize at the time what was happening because he kept his illness a closely guarded secret. He went to see his grandparents a week before he died and spent a day visiting with them. My folks called that night to tell me he had been there and it had been a wonderful day. They were so happy that he had come to see them and I could hear the joy in their voices. Two days later Alex called to talk and said he wanted us to know that he could not have had better parents. He had always been a very thoughtful person and it was not out of character for him. I had no idea that it would be my last conversation with him. It was his way of saying goodbye to us. Four days later he was spending the weekend with an old friend and passed away quietly in his sleep.

Remember to tell family members you love them every time you speak with them. You never know when it will be your last chance.
