I have a huge poster above my computer monitor that simply says: WORK HARD & BE NICE TO PEOPLE. (It’s an Anthony Burrill letterpress print, still available from the store Concrete Hermit at http://www.concretehermit.com/). The poster reminds me to live by that motto, which I’m reasonably successful at doing. And part of being nice is enabling other people’s success.

Giving courage to people indeed increase ourselves towards humanity and will help our self esteem as well.Many billionaire now become philantrophist, and help people because they know exactly how it felt when they were at the bottom of their lives and those feeling of people who helped them giving them the courage to get back, once they succeed they do the same thing

You make a good point.

I recently took StrengthsFinder and my most dominant theme was “individualization” – which suggests I’m “intrigued with the unique qualities of each person. They have a gift for figuring out how people who are different can work together productively.” Which is right on.

However, I still believe everyone has something to give. Maybe it’s not in a demonstratively affectionate way, but “Self-esteem comes from DOING Esteemable Acts.”
