Off to take the survey right now.

One thing you wrote above really struck me.

About anyone hitting every pitch out of the park - which btw doesn’t translate very well outside the US - but I understand the point.

Before we look at how you can achieve balance, it’s important to know why you need to have balance in your life in the first place.

I wanted to tell you that after taking your survey I did some real self-evaluation, and I decided yesterday to stop using completely

A while back I wrote about these over on my site and I think they are SO important to think about and remind ourselves of all the time. It’s so easy (for me) to fall into these traps and I really need to be careful when it comes to my thinking. I love your descriptions of each. Very well done!forumvideooyun

Taking your survey helped me think about what's been holding me back. The question is, how do I work around some of the challenges I face (health and job related). Great survey!

Growing up on a farm and working since I was 5 years old I feel discipline was learned. You're right we had to make ourselves do what we didn't want to do. For example my father would tell my siblings and I to pick an acre of strawberries by lunch time. We forced ourselves to do the unwanted task.

Because we were kids we made it fun. We had berry fights, contests to see who could finish their part first all the while enjoying the morning dew, the sweet taste of the berries etc.

Once the task was finished we ate lunch and were sent to weed an few acres of tomatoes. No exaggeration believe me. Again, did the unwanted task. Didn't have a choice.
I'll stop here but this went on until I was 23 and quit working on the farm.

Our rewards would be strawberry jam, short cake, and pies. Of course we could eat all we wanted and not gain weight. Calories were worked off on the next task. Discipline something you can't give anyone but once you have it's worth more than all the money in the world.

Great post!

This survey was different. When I clicked the link, I was expecting some multiple choice questions, but instead I saw three short answer questions and started typing. I feel like I learned a little about myself by filling this survey out.

Leo, I wonder if your intent was to push your readers into self-reflection and if that is the case, good job and thank you. I hope to see even more come out of this survey, because I reached a few conclusions, about not seeing time as an enemy or an excuse, but just accepting that yeah, there is a finite amount of time for everyone and if you worry there is not enough time, then you're being a little silly, because you're wasting that precious time, worrying about it...

Another thought occured to me after taking the quiz was the feeling of "stuckness" as discribed by Robert Persig in "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance". It is not just being in a "rut", it is something more.

I struggled with the last question, not because I couldn't understand it -- I did -- but because it made me step back and think about my own behaviors that have held me back. Just by filling out the survey, I think I made a little progress today. Good job, Leo. :)

Great idea! I had some trouble answering the third question but finally something crossed my mind. That's why I'm writing this message - I wanted to say thank you! I'd never have thought of this rather pleasant achievement on my own.

Keep up the good work!

P.S. I don't know whether you've been aware of the fact that you even got some true fans here in Germany :)
