A truly great piece of work and highly interesting.
The only document that is on a par with this is Chris Guillebeau’s 279 Days to Overnight Success.
Right now I feel that I’m at around stage 5 where I am working on my branding.
Developing content is not easy but I’m getting better at it all the time.
But the most interesting piece for me is the “Flooding the Market” section because I think it is here that Leo explains that the best way to develop traction is through guest posting. And in an amazing coincidence Chris Guillebeau actually makes reference to Leo’s guest posting in “279 Days”.
This seems to me to be a key area since 2 great bloggers have mentioned it and it is an area that I intend to focus on i.e. building relationships with other bloggers with a view to getting a guest post on their site.
After all, it makes eminent sense when you think about it – commenting on a great blog article means that someone has to read through all the comments in detail to pick yours out.
Getting an actual guest post is in a different league.
Thanks Leo, and if you do happen to read this comment (or if any other commenters have ideas) I’d appreciate some more detail on how to get guest posts.
In particular, how does one make the first contact. And also, I am currently blogging anonymously for reasons to do with my current line of work (financial services is very litigious!) so how does one overcome this issue in terms of getting to write guest posts.

Thanks for this! As I’ve been building my own blog it is very useful.
I’m glad it’s not just me checking stats every twenty minutes too.
What I’ve had the most trouble with is actually defining what my blog is about, after reading your free eBook, although not particularly about this, somehow I managed to figure it out.
The branding part is so true too, and something I feel I could not have achieved had I not pin pointed what my blog is actually about.

Thanks so much Leo. Today I deleted most of my blog entries I’ve posted over these last 4 months and was seriously considering giving it up for good. After downloading and reading your ebook I now see a ;ot of my errors and even have renewed hope that I too will someday find my “tribe”.
