Nice post thanks, has very useful information that everyone should follow. I think that the problem is to actually follow what you mentioned. It is easier said than done.

The solution may be simple, but the process difficult. Something I've learned to accept.

Someone finally saying what I always think when people explain their complicated food beliefs to me! Losing weight works through eating less. Especially eating less processed foods. It's about where you eat (not in front of the TV) and how you eat - how about having a conversation, you automatically eat more slowly and therefore are full earlier. It's about not eating up when you're already full! Luckily my body automatically complains when I eat the wrong things in the wrong way. My secret of losing weight: food allergies ;)

Great post - I agree "clutter often serves as a distraction" from our true thoughts, emotions and feelings. Just a thought....when you said:

"You should enjoy the process. It should be easy and sustainable. And in the best of situations, it should be mindless" - I wonder if mindless could be substituted with mindful and convey your message?

I find that when I am mindful, rather than mindless, I am better able to enjoy the process and the present moment. When I am mindless, that is when I am unaware of my feelings and might use food or exercise as a substitute for whatever I can't control in my life.

Thanks again for the blog!

I wonder if mindless could be substituted the mindful and it would convey the same meaning?

why is a higher metabolism automatically desirable? maybe its better to just control the other side of the equation. im not saying this is the right stance but just putting the question out there for discussion.

Hi,

Ive always been on the more underweight side of things and lots of my friends ask me what i do to stay like that. And to be fair its a mixed outlook on what i do.

1.I can say 9 times out of ten i never end up eating breakfast.
2.I have always never really been that keen on chips, crisps, fry ups ect so dont eat large portions of them.
3.I do walk a lot but dont really get a lot of cardio vascular workout unless im late on the school run.
4.I tend to eat lots and lots at night time but ive not put weight on by doing it.
5.I do love a salad but feel mabe i sometimes put a bit too much bad dressing on it.
6.But i do eat smaller portions for my lunch compared to others.

But this is what bugs me my mum who says she doesnt eat but is classed as obese and does no exercise says its my metabolism.rubbish i say she needs to get off her bum and do some exercise and eat better and stop with the bad excuses.ive had my thiroid tested and its fine i say to her its simple i burn more off that i put in.

However this is a serious point, my uncle who has recently had a major heart attack was NOT even overweight never mind obese. He had spent a long time eating rubbish and high cholesterol foods even though he exercised well which nearly killed him.So just because your thin doesnt mean your healthy.Everyone should always look at their lifestyle and think "is it healthy",its made me realise even though im thin some of the things i do arnt very good for my body.
