Awesome tip. Totally agree.

When I was in college, I studied classical guitar for a few years. My instructor forced me to practice with a metronome at insanely slow speeds (40bpm starting). But it helped. As I moved on, I would bump the speed. Before long, the impossible was just a daily practice.

someone once told me when starting something new try to "under achieve". For instance when starting to work out, instead of going really hard at first, just start out setting the goal to go to the gym and under achieve. The important part is consistency and when you under achieve its much easier to keep going. Its counter intuitive to what you would think, but its true none the less.

Slow is very very good. And sometimes the best way to establish change for the better is to impart no rules at all. Let fast come from you organically as well, yeah? Nothing forced.

They stumble that run fast. That's a fantastic quote from William Shakespeare. Thanks for the post.

In general, most people do most things entirely too quickly. However, in some cases, we continue to do things entirely too slowly based on the belief that change has to take a long time.

For instance, Connirae and Steve Andreas have developed processes that help people overcome grief, or find forgiveness, or transform shame usually in less than an hour. Most people aren't even willing to try the processes because they have a belief that these things must take a long time to change. The field of brief therapy has found many such rapid changes are possible and long-lasting as well.

Slow when slow is needed, fast when fast is appropriate.

I applied this philosophy to my bowling and I've gone from a 100 average to 175 average in only a couple of months. It is win, plain and simple.

I really have enjoyed reading your posts over the past few months. I love that you are always challenging us to fight the tendencies we have been programmed to follow for our entire lives. Things like telling us to take things slow, to take more breaks if you want to be more productive etc... those challenge our everyday thinking and for that I thank you.
