Personally, I do not use Moleskines because I do not like carrying around a bunch of stuff that is old/expired. A big part of a notebook for me is that I can jot down an idea or thought to process later. Well with a moleskine, after I do that I have to carry it around until I finish the entire book. Plus they are very expensive!
I use Myndology notebooks, because I can easily remove and re-order pages using the disc-bound system. I bought all three sizes (index, journal, and letter) and I carry the index around with me, journal in my backpack, and letter at home. On top of that, they look really sleek.

I use the moleskine as a temporary input device. As soon as I process the text, i tear the page out.
But now that I'm running my gtd system off of Gmail, i find myself using it less and less.
Because I just enter any gtd system input directly into Gmail running on my Blackberry, as an email to
myself. It's only when I'm on the phone taking something longer down really quickly, or taking
notes that I need to use a pen.
The myndology.com server seems to be down... but will check those out.

I'm quite enjoying the Moleskine, the paper is nice to write on and is fine with my various favourite pens. But I find the ruled lines a bit too small for my writing which tends to be a bit big. It's nice, but not so nice that I'm coverted to Moleskine only, I don't think they are actually worth that premium price, not for me anyway.

I guess I am among the few who doesn't think Moleskines are all that pricey. About $15, but they last me forever. Other journals I see at the bookstore are usually more than that and not as good quality. I love a couple things about Moleskines: The bindings really hold up, the paper is smooth and feels great, I love their clean lines and simple design. I also love the pocket in the back and the attached bookmark.
I have several different Moleskines that I use, they help keep me organized. I have a regular lined notebook for journal writing, a sketchbook for drawing, and a pocket sketch-book that I carry with me for idea-capturing, lists, directions, books to read, playlists, etc. I use each one everyday and I love them.
Strangely, I have yet to see the Moleskine planner anywhere, though I'm sure I could order one online.

Okay, I'll fess up, I'm converted! I've still got come of those vouchers I bought the first one with, so I'm getting a couple more. However, what I'm doing is only using the Moleskine as my journal/diary. No story notes, beyond a germ of an idea here and there. Story notes invlove too much brainstorming and scribbling out and stuff which the Moleskine seems just too precious for!
So journal only, and since I'm going to buy my self a nice fountain pen as a gift if I get my 50k words for NaNoWriMo this year, I'll have a handsome pen to write in it with! Probably in much neater script than my scrawl in my story notebooks!

I personally have a few Moleskines. I suggest looking around on eBay for good deals on Moleskines [Check out seller ToBeVintage].
Right now, I have one lined Moleskine as a dream journal, which doesn't move past my bedside table. I have one sketchbook which I'm using as a general journal for my thoughts, quotes, doodling, to-do lists, etc. I also have a cahier which I'm using to write out some essays and notes I'm working on in my classes. I also shelled out a few bucks for a daily planner for 2008, which I'm really looking forward to using.
junkfoodmonkey, I would definitely suggest getting some cahiers for story notes and the like. They're cardboard instead of the leather of the regular notebooks, but they still look very nice, utilize the same high-quality paper, yet feel a bit more "disposable". They really helped clear my writer's block on the paper I've been working on.

i use a moleskine planner and it's been great to me. i've bought my planner for next year, too, although it's a slightly different format i'm excited to use it again! & i've been using it all year and it's followed me around in my purse every day and it's still in great shape. the quality is amazing.
otherwise, i don't find that they're quite worth it if you're just going to be tearing a page out every day. but it's a personal preference thing - i carry around a small pad of index cards cut in half (2.5"x3") put together with a binder clip (like a mini hipster pda haha) for the little things to jot down.

I used to use these but had to switch to a pocket binder system. I add and remove pages too often. I had to invest in a pretty little Filofax binder. It's not quite the same as a Moleskine notebook, of course. It's better for me because it works very well, but there are some things I miss!

I've tried using a moleskin, but I personally found the pages to feel too precious to rip out or to make mistakes in. Moleskin feels so nice in my hands that I felt I only wanted to write-in the most important information and keep it forever. :) But for task tracking, we pretty much toss the pages once the tasks are complete. So I now only use moleskin for taking notes, keeping empowering quotes and personal realizations.
For tasks, I now carry around a simple filing folder, including my master task list, todos for the day, and with some blank sheets.
I've found this to give me the most freedom. Once I'm done tasks on a page, I just take the page out. And because it's so cheap (vs $12-17 for a moleskin), I'm not as concerned about making mistakes or making things look nice. :)
Hope that helps. :) I do however also carry a tiny notebook with me, that's for capturing ideas (none project items).

Some people even hollow them out & use them as a wallet. |
Moleskine actually makes a tiny accordion file folder that could work as a wallet...
I use it to carry all my cards and whatever small papers will fit in it.
As for the notebooks:
I used quite a few of the Moleskine "cahier" notebooks (which are very sturdy in their own way) until I discovered a cheaper and beautiful 100% recycled alternative:
http://www.pigna.it/inglese/p_nature.html
(check out those pretties) at only 75 euro-cents each!!
I'm in France; these might be harder to find in the US... I'll be giving them as presents for everyone I know who loves notebooks.

Is Moleskine book really nice book ?
In my country, I'd never heard about this one before. But I still thinking what makes a great notebook. I've simple books ( in my country about 5 books / 1$ ) And I've found that It works for me, I just take note on it, draw mind map and another one for todo list making. It works . . . . .
Anyone plz capture your notebook and how do you organize your content on it
Thanks and sorry for my bad english

I'm afraid I'm going to take a bit of the counter-argument here.
I've used the pocket-sized Moleskine for awhile now and in the past couple months I have reverted back to something else-- a single index card. I carried around my Moleskine notebook in my back pocket and used one page per day for writing out MITs, a daily schedule, and some notes. As such, I was taking it in and out of my pocket many times each day and would tear the page out at the end of the day. I found that several weeks in to its tenure, my Moleskine would begin to fall apart. More specifically, the pages would begin to fall out. Now, it may be because I was a little bit more abusive than the average user, but that broke the deal off for me. Plus, I decided I really didn't need a notebook full of blank pages-- the flip side of an index card will do.
I've never used a Moleskine in any other capacity, but I'm sure they make excellent journals. If I ever need a nice paper journal, I will more than likely check out Moleskine first. However, if you're looking for something to carry around in your pocket with you everyday, I'd recommend something simpler and sturdier.
